Weight loss with under active thyroid and high prolactin levels?
Hi
I have an under active thyroid, high prolactin levels and possible PCOS, I would like to lose approx. 6 pounds a month as I am over weight but I’m finding it quite hard. I am doing weight watchers and exercising nearly everyday. If anyone has experience of dieting while having hormone related problems I would be grateful of some advice as my GP is useless!
Hey
I don’t really have a an answer for you but I’d recommend you check out a healthforum for each of those conditions. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in the summer and I’ve found a couple of the forums very helpful. To learn more about the thyroid side of things/ask questions to those with experience I recommend: http://www.healthboards.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=122
You should find a similar board for PCOS on the website if you want to look.
I will just mention that you wont lose weight with hypothyroidism unless you’re on the right dosage for you. Normals TSH levels are .5 – 5.0 but a lot of people complain of symptoms when at the higher end of that range. Most people feel best between 1-2. I guess that PCOS makes it harder for you aswell
Sucks when you feel like you’re doing everything right, I’m in the same boat. Hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel though… Good luck
